Each basket is meticulously handcrafted by women artisans from the Batoro tribe in the remote mountains of Western Uganda. These talented weavers are part of a cooperative that empowers single mothers, widows, and marginalized women, providing them with training and a source of additional income.

Crafted from all-natural, sustainably sourced raffia and banana fibers, this basket is both eco-friendly and durable. The use of synthetic AZO-free dyes ensures vibrant colors without compromising safety. The intricate designs are achieved by twisting and wrapping hand-dyed raffia around coils of banana fibers, creating a unique structure.

A convenient hanging loop on the back allows this basket to double as wall decor, adding versatility to its use. Each piece is a labor of love, taking days to weeks to complete, as artisans balance weaving with other household responsibilities.

No two baskets are identical, with slight variations in size and color, making each one a special and unique work of art. Handmade in Uganda, the approximate size of this basket is 9.5" x 14" x 5", making it a perfect fit for any home.
