Each basket is meticulously crafted by women artisans from the Batoro tribe in the remote mountains of Western Uganda. These skilled weavers are part of a cooperative that empowers single mothers, widows, and marginalized women by providing them with training and additional income opportunities.

Made from all-natural, sustainably sourced raffia and banana fibers, this basket showcases a unique blend of natural and AZO-free dyes. The dyes are derived from plant materials grown in the artisans' villages, requiring extensive knowledge and skill to produce.

The intricate designs are achieved by twisting and wrapping hand-dyed raffia around coils of banana fibers. Each basket is handmade at home, with weavers dedicating 3 or more hours a day to their craft while managing household duties.

Due to the handmade nature of these baskets, no two are identical, ensuring each piece is special and unique. Expect slight variations in size and color, adding to the charm of this artisanal product. Handmade in Uganda, the basket measures approximately 10" x 13" x 5".
